Well, we've made it to the end. It's been a long and crazy ride, and in a lot of ways I'm sad to see it go. A little over three years ago I got to help start this webcomic with some very cool people. I'm happy to see it end much the way it began, with oddball humor and a segue about space marines.
I think it's a good time now to reflect on what this comic means to me. It's been a constant mainstay of my life for over three years, more consistent than work or school, even a lot of friendships. I think initially we started this comic to achieve two goals. The first was to give some of our humor to the world. Inspired by Penny Arcade and others like it we set out to say funny stuff, or at least point others in the direction of things we found funny. Granted, frequently that material was odd, maybe even bizarre, but it made us laugh, and we know that for at least a few it did you as well. I know we got one of our friends kicked out of class because he couldn't stop laughing at one of our comics, so I'd say we accomplished that goal none to shabbily.
The second goal was for myself and Luu to get comfortable with sequential pages. We're aspiring comic book gurus after all; we needed to get familiar with our craft. Considering how often we updated and with as few guest comics as we did I think we pretty well met that goal, and I'm most pleased with the results.
Though this is the end of one chapter of Space-Gun, that of the weekly web comic, it isn't the end of Space-Gun as an entity. Luu and I have been building towards other projects in the last year and it's come time we hit full force on those. Rest assured, if you liked what we've done here, you'll be amazed what we've got on the drawing boards.
Personally I'll be working on some mini series and graphic novel ideas I've had in the works. In addition I'd like to collaborate more with my fellow Space-Gun partners and my comic book peers in the Dallas area. There's some wicked talent here and I hope to work with all of it. I know all the guys have projects they're eager to work on and we'll be keeping the site updated to show you all the goodies as we have them.
As I said, this is the closing of but one chapter of Space-Gun, there will be more. The next chapter will be different, but I have every faith that it will also be excellent, and a worthy follow up to the work that has come before. Keep checking back here over the next few weeks and with a little luck you'll start to see what I mean.
In the meantime, I'd like to go ahead and thank everyone who's been a reader these last three years. Without your support this comic wouldn't exist, and that's something I think we can all be proud of. So for once, I relinquish the badassery of Space-Gun and give it entirely to you, the fans. Props y'all. you deserve it.
Well, that's all for now. Later cats and kittens. I'm out.
